Community Service Reflection

I volunteer to remodel the outside part the shelter. This was an event that Comcast hosted, my mom hosted the event. I planted flowers along to the building. Cleaning the sidewalks and picking up trash along the way. I help add grass fillings to the dried part of the grass.

It felt good to help out and making sure the people in the shelter feel comfortable. When we were working, some people that lived in the shelter came out and look at our work. They look shocked but happy about the improvements. I like the fact that it made them happy. I wanted them to know people care and can do more than send money. 

    The shelter we were at was a big red brick building, so we planted purple and blue flowers along the side. We also went to the garden, they had and pick out weeds and trash. While doing this we encounter many garden snakes, making this event into a scream fest. It was fun and hard-working but when it was done, it came with the feeling of accomplishment.

I felt glad that we were able to make this shelter more welcome and comfortable. Doing community service like this make me happy. I love helping out and showing people that need it that I care. That they matter, their not just some people that we look down on. This is important to me because of the way some people always treat homeless people. I want to show them that not everybody is a jerk.
